SYSTEMS PLANNING

With faith in the housing and homelessness plan and the desired vision for the future that sees homelessness as rare, brief and non-recurring, systems planning examines the organization of programs and services from across funders in the present, with an eye towards the optimal organization of delivery and services in the future to achieve the desired aims and intended future.

EVALUATION

In the spirit of continuous improvement, we work with projects, organizations and communities to understand the effectiveness of current approach and fidelity to practice, and provide recommendations and assistance with implementation when requested to adequately address the findings of the evaluation. We use different types of evaluation and different lenses for evaluation depending on what is being evaluated and the purpose of the evaluation.

We can help with onboarding. We can help with operational policies. We can help with a data collection and evaluation framework. We can help with program budgeting. And, we can help with establishing targets for the program.

STRATEGIC PLANNING

We help organizations and communities of all sizes and complexities engage in robust, thoughtful strategic planning. We excel at engaging various interests in the strategic planning, and coupling those inputs with knowledge of evidence-based and evidence-informed practice. We want to help create meaningful mission, vision and values statements that are lived in practice and inform operational decisions. We help articulate strategic objectives, goals and key performance indicators in the process as well. We believe strategic planning should result in action, not just ticking a box that a strategic plan was completed.

GAPS ANALYSIS

Our approach to gaps analysis is to first examine current state of operations, approach to operations, outputs and outcomes. Then we compare current operations to mission and vision, and we compare current operations to known effective approaches to completing the work, as proven through evidence and research. This results in concrete recommendations on the course of action to take in order to address the gaps, whether that is through allocation of new resources, a re-profiling of existing resources, or amendments in operations that require a change in practice but not a change in resources.

HOUSING & HOMELESSNESS PLANS

A plan is not a dream. A plan is concrete action steps that are structured, documented and strategic that outline how homelessness will be rare, and if it does occur, be of short duration and not repeated. We help build connections between the emergency response side of operations with the housing solutions side of operations. We believe the housing and homelessness plan should guide decisions and funding, and be the primary focus of community convening on housing and homelessness matters. We believe that reporting out on progress in realizing the intentions of the plan is critical.

HOUSING-FOCUSED SERVICES

We consult on redesigning homelessness services like street outreach and shelters to transform into housing-focused services. We also help in the design and implementation of scattered site and congregate supportive housing options, and help transform transitional housing into permanent housing.
