Vibrant Organizations

In these early years of the 21st century, the need for vibrant organizations has never been more evident, whether the organization is public, private, or non-profit.  Organizations are simply groups of people who join together for a common purpose and, increasingly, that purpose results in a triple bottom line — economic prosperity, environmental quality and social justice.

A vibrant organization is one that can adapt and thrive in response to the changing needs of clients, constituents, funders, regulatory agencies or economic cycles.  In short, an organization that does not adapt and grow will die or, perhaps worse, become irrelevant. At OrgCode, we help leaders and the people in organizations embrace change.

Change is often a reaction to a crisis.  Organizational change spawned by a crisis can result in confusion, internal fragmentation or failure because reactionary change often means engaging old solutions or simplistic fads to solve complex problems. There is a better way and OrgCode can help.  At OrgCode, we are experts in how organizations of all types can change, adapt and excel in shifting environments and circumstances.  We never underestimate an organization’s instinct for self-preservation but being a vibrant organization is much much more than just surviving — it’s about contributing to society in ways that make a difference to all of its stakeholders.

Organizational Transformation

OrgCode has worked extensively with a wide variety of organizations in the public, private, non-governmental, and non-profit sectors in conducting organization reviews and facilitating change.  We focus on five levels of assessment: Shared Vision; Workflow Structure; Leadership; Results; and Alignment.

Community Organizing

Effective community mobilization and organization is often a prerequisite for accomplishing change.  At OrgCode, we assist communities by developing and leading campaigns to address local issues.  We undertake research (including Community-based Participatory Action Research) to support the position of the campaign, as well as creating slogans, messaging, and media interface.  We also develop and train leaders to be the voice of the campaign.

Talent Management, Coaching and Leadership

In the past, Executive Coaching has been used to correct unproductive behaviour, but the majority of today’s coaching engagements are proactive and part of organizational talent management initiatives.  The three major situations for coaching deal with new roles, current roles, and preparing for future roles.  Executives will often trigger the coaching process when they identify their need for objective, professional help to deal with a perceived or real impasse in their career. At OrgCode, we believe that an impasse is just a pause between new ideas and alternate action.

OrgCode Executive Coaches are experienced executives who have advanced degrees in the behavioral sciences and are selected based on the following, additional criteria: organizational and business knowledge; executive presence and communication skills; experience in applying knowledge of learning and change theories; their ability to be compassionate and objective, humorous, listen, analyze, confront, challenge, establish rapport and trust and demonstrate social intelligence; knowledge in the selection and application of assessments, surveys and instruments; flexibility to work effectively with a broad range of executives in various organizational disciplines; ability to plan, conceptualize, implement and manage a coaching relationship; and credibility and authenticity.

Facilitation and Mediation

The OrgCode team has extensive experience in conflict resolution.  We are Master Facilitators and offer certification in facilitation.  We also mediate settlements, working to resolve conflicts in fair, unbiased and informed ways.  At OrgCode, we provide a positive, supportive environment for all parties during the resolution process, and facilitate access to necessary resources after conflict is resolved.

Training and Professional Development
OrgCode has created an extensive library of theories, techniques, tools and assessment instruments that we use to design, develop and implement customized training solutions.  Our programs are designed around the needs and learning styles of our clients to ensure that there is a return on the investment.  Delivery methods rang from traditional classroom approaches supported by “action learning” to web and computer-based approaches.

Examples

Regional Municipality

A regional municipality was having difficulty bringing together stakeholders in implementing community services amongst community partners, business and lower-tier municipalities. They turned to OrgCode to facilitate a day-long Breakthrough Thinking session to help them remove the road block and create action plans to take the next steps forward in improved service delivery.

Large Urban Non-Profit

A large non-profit serving a metropolitan area of over a million people turned to OrgCode for coaching and psychometric testing of the senior management team, strategic priority setting for the senior management team, one on one executive coaching, and the creation of job descriptions for key management positions within the organization.
